HIghway 71


​The Highway 71 band is a five-piece, hard-working variety band that can perform a full night of country western music and a full night of 50s and 60s rock & roll depending on the club and what the crowd desires to hear. Not many bands are good at both! The Highway 71 band is also very fortunate to feature Sean Wallin as it's very gifted lead vocalist with a vocal range that a lot of pro's wish they had. Sean also pays tribute to Elvis with a fantastic Elvis show. If the club so desires, Sean will perform his Elvis act with a full get up costume. Sean also sings country music and yodels. The Highway 71 band has also worked in Phoenix Arizona at various clubs and ballrooms. This is a professional sounding band that practices every week.

Sean Wallin - Lead Vocals

    Sean is a young singer from Bemidji Minnesota. He is an excellent and versatile singer with a tremendous vocal range that matches the likes of Roy Orbison, Jay and the Americans, and Frankie Valli, etc in the 50s and 60s rock venue. Sean does a tremendous Elvis Tribute show with the King's moves, full costume, glasses, and wigs. Sean is able to perform a complete set of country music. Sean sings songs from Merle Haggard to Johnny Cash, Brooks and Dun, etc. Sean can yodel with the likes of Hank Williams or Slim Whitman. Sean was also the winner of Kickin Up Kountry in 2014.

Gene Robinson - Lead Guitar & Musical arranger.

    Gene has toured with national recording groups on the road including the "Fendermen" (White Lightning), "the Trashmen" (Surfing Bird, etc), "DJ & the Runaways" (Peter Rabbit), "the Upson Downs"(Formerly the Swinging Lads on the Ed Sullivan Show). Gene has also accompanied many house bands in the Twin Cities and Breezy Point. He also accompanied country groups on the "Eddie Lee Show", also out of the Twin Cities. While there, Gene backed up many Opry country stars weekly.

John Dow - Steel Guitar & Rhythm Guitar player.

    John has always had a passion for music as both parents were good musicians. John also took up the challenge of the steel guitar which is arguably the hardest musical instrument on the planet to learn. John also had a passion for sports. He played football and baseball in the professional leagues.

Dave Sand - Bass Guitar (and drummer).

    Dave started playing drums in bars at the ripe age of 14. He has been playing in bands for the last 30 years. Dave played drums in the band "Power Play", plus many other Regional Northern Minnesota country western bands.

Tony Sladky - Drums

    Tony has played with various Northern Minnesota groups such as the "Shades of Soul" (formerly the Capris), "William and the Conquerors", "the Wynkoop's country band" and numerous other Northern Minnesota bands. Dave is a very versatile and accomplished drummer.
